Board Members
Board President: Susan McDonald [email protected]
Susan has served as the Board President since July 2025. She was an integral part of the Founding Advisory Committee before Azure Fields Charter High School Incorporated in May of 2024. She's trained in Waldorf pedagogy with the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education and has a degree in Education from BYU. Her entire career has been spent in the classroom in various positions.
Secretary and Voting Member: Sara Archibald [email protected]
Sara has been serving on the Founding Board since May 2024, first as Treasurer and then as Secretary. She has a degree in Computer Information Technology and has pursued a deeper understanding of Waldorf Pedagogy through local and online training initiatives. She has more than a decade of instructional experience within non-traditional educational settings.
Before becoming a teacher, Marta amassed a strong business/accounting background in construction and tax offices for 15-20 years. She has served as a treasurer on three different boards and has taught for several years in the classroom.
Public Relations Representative and Voting Member: Christian Swenson [email protected]
Christian has been a part of the founding board since May 2024 and was a part of The Founding Advisory Committee before Azure Fields incorporated. He is now the Public Relations Representative and leads Waldorf/Steiner Study Trainings for the Board at each Board Meeting in accordance with our bylaws. He is a PhD student at Berkley University and has studied the works of Rudolph Steiner. He taught philosophy at UVU and BYU, published and presented on Rudolph Steiner, and served on the Founding Board of Mountain Sunrise Academy.

Carrie has been on the Founding Board as a Voting Member since May 2024. As a parent she is dedicated to overseeing the success of Azure Fields CHS bringing over a decade of youth-focused volunteer experience and a professional background in dental hygiene. She is a passionate advocate for holistic education, equity, and community-building.
Voting Member: Thesa Callinicos [email protected]
Born and raised in South Africa, Thesa attended Johannesburg Teachers’ Training College before graduating from Emerson College in Sussex England in 1969. Ithaca, Greece is the ancestral home and birthplace of Thesa Callinicos’ parents. Born and raised in South Africa, Thesa attended Johannesburg Teachers’ Training College before graduating from Emerson College in Sussex England in 1969. Thesa has worked in Private Waldorf Schools in Western United States for 33 years.
Voting Member: Alysha Milligan [email protected]
Alysha comes to us with a BA in Communication and Science Disorders. She brings almost 15 years of experience with Pearson Education, Speech Therapy, and the Department of Corrections. She ran a small business and loves to be a parent volunteer at a local Waldorf-inspired school where her children attend. She has 3 children and is excited to be helpful in directing kids toward success and loving the journey of learning while slowly acclimating to the demands of adulthood.
